Microsoft Office Specialist Certification

Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification is the only certification that acknowledges skills obtained through using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

The MOS program is also the only Office certification program recognised by Microsoft internationally. It is designed to validate desktop computer skills using Microsoft Office applications. Achieving MOS certification will give you the confidence to efficiently manage the application and will guarantee that employers know your level of productivity. Becoming a MOS will also identify opportunities for skills enhancement and career advancement.

There are three levels of Microsoft Office certification - Core, Expert and Master. Click here to download steps to Microsoft Office Certification.

Where can you go to upskill?
We provide training in all Microsoft Office XP and 2003 products. Click here to view our scheduled training programs or call 1300 793 951 to speak with one of our consultants.

How many exams can you sit?
You can complete as many exams as you require in one sitting. We do however advise to sit a maximum of two exams only, in one sitting, as too many can become overwhelming. After completing and passing a Microsoft Office Specialist exam, you become certified in that chosen Microsoft application.

What format are the exams in?
The exams are provided online as an interactive format. Each question provides you with 1 - 4 items to complete within the question. These exams comprise of scenario based assignments that are based on the way you actually use your computer. Using an actual document, for example, you'll be asked to perform a series of tasks that clearly demonstrate your desktop computing skills.

When can you find out your results?
Results will be provided on-screen instantly following the completion of the exam. You will also be provided with a printout.

Can you re-sit the exam on the same day?
If you fail your exam you will need to rebook your exam after further study. We provide training in all Microsoft Office XP and 2003 products. Click here to view our scheduled training programs or call 1300 793 951 to speak with one of our consultants. Please refer above for examination costs.

How long does the exam go for?
Questions are provided in a timed fashion allowing 50 minutes to complete the exam. Time spent, prior or post the actual exam questions does not affect the time allowance for the exam.

How is MOS different to other certifications?
The MOS Certification is the only certification to recognise skills with the use of Microsoft Office applications. It only requires you to pass one 1 exam and not a series of exams in order to gain the certification. MOS allows you to become highly competent and certified in the specific application which is relevant to the users in their workplace or potential employment position.

Do you have to complete all the exams in order to obtain certification?
No, only the exams for which you would like to be certified for. Passing one exam will provide you with the same certification as completing the exam for several, however, the more exams a candidate becomes certified in, the wider their knowledge base and certifications will be.

Is Microsoft Help available during the exams?
No. As Microsoft Help is used as a tool for discovering answers to your question this facility is not available. This removes the ability for a candidate who does not have knowledge on a particular topic or question to lookup the answer using Microsoft Help. This provides a more accurate certification and consistent benchmark.

How do you become an MOS Master?
To become an MOS master you must pass the following four 4 exams in either Microsoft Office 2000, 2002 (XP) or 2003 versions.

Three required exams:
1. Microsoft PowerPoint Core
2. Microsoft Word Expert
3. Microsoft Excel Expert

One elective exam:
1. Microsoft Access Core
2. Microsoft Outlook Core
